EHPEA hosts a South Korean investment and business delegation at its headquarters

EHPEA hosts a South Korean investment and business delegation at its headquarters. A briefing was given to the delegates on the ample investment opportunities in the horticulture sector in Ethiopia.

It was also discussed at length on how to boost the export of Ethiopian flowers to South Korea.

The delegation will be visiting EHPEA member farms in the next days for a better understanding of the sector.

EHPEA, Ethiopian Agricultural Authority and Trade Mark East Africa have linked Memorandum of Understanding for phytosanitary certificate

EHPEA, Ethiopian Agricultural Authority and Trade Mark East Africa have linked Memorandum of Understanding to modernize the issuance of phyto sanitary certificate electronically, to upgrade the ICT infrastructure both at the Authority and EHPEA as well as to exchange experince among other countries.

Ambassador Driba Kuma, Director General of the Ethiopian Agriculture Authority, Ato Ewnetu Taye Country Director of TMEA and Ato Tewodros Zewdie Executive Director of EHPEA have signed the MoU.

TMEA is going to fully finance the projects that are going to be executed.

EHPEA members farms in Koka built a Kindergarten school equipped with school equipment

Horticulture farms in Koka cluster, Zuqualla Horti PLC, Florensis Abyssinia PL, and Desa plant PLC are known for their charity works believing in giving back to the community.

The newly built school which costs ETB 2,928,126.66, inaugurated in the presence of AbaGeda, DR. Tola Beriso from Oromia education office and major actors of the sector in the region as well as community representatives.

EHPEA and MPS Group sign memorandum to strengthen cooperation

On 9 November, EHPEA (Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association) and MPS Group signed a Memorandum to strengthen the cooperation between both organisations. EHPEA and MPS Group will cooperate to implement the HortiFootprint Calculator amongst EHPEA members in Flowers & Ornamentals. Cooperation with industry partners is essential in order to improve together.

Mr Nega Mequanint, Board Chairman EHPEA, signed the Memorandum in presence of Mr Tewodros Zewdie, Executive Director EHPEA, and Mrs Yordanos Jemal, Board Member EHPEA. For MPS Group the Memorandum was signed by Mr Daan de Vries, CEO Group, accompanied by Mr Edmund Timm, Manager Commerce & Marketing MPS Group, and Mr Arthij van der Veer, Area Manager Africa.

By using the HortiFootprint Calculator, grower partners from EHPEA will have the opportunity to not only measure their carbon footprint but also to simulate proposed improvements. Hereby, the objective for both growers and the floriculture industry in Ethiopia is to work towards climate neutral production.
