The need for synergy towards the Ethiopian Horticulture sector doing business climate development stated on the discussion platform organized for Xylella fastidiosa and phytosanitory issues which was held today at Adama, Ethiopia with the presence of H.E Ato. Oumar Hussen, Minister for the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), and other higher officials as well as pertinent stakeholders of the sector.
Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Ethiopian Horticulture Producer Exporters Association (EHPEA) , in collaboration with actors of the sector conducted successfully a survey on Xylella fastidiosa absence declaration to fulfill EU Phytosanitory requirements on Horticulture export commodities.
In-line with this the need for setting structured diagnosis center discussed at length. Challenges faced while conducting the survey such as; lack of proper laboratory, lack of skilled manpower, lack of research and practical training centers, and weak communication among the sectors were discussed in depth for the way forward.At the closing of the program a recognition certificate were given for the technical team and partners who took part on the survey.
