Beyond Trade Fair: Innovative Solutions, Sustainability at HortiFlora Expo 2026

The HortiFlora Expo 2026 will be convened on 24-26 March in Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa, providing a vital platform to showcase and deliberate on cutting-age technologies, market trends and innovative solutions.

With a record number of foreign companies, over 110 exhibitors have been registered so far to participate in the upcoming international floriculture and horticulture trade fair at Addis International Convention Center.

The annual Expo, which is organized by the Ethiopian Horticulture Producers and Exporters Association (EHPEA) in collaboration with HPP Worldwide, will connect key players across the globe, setting B2B, B2C and B2G matchmaking sessions, and high-level forums on relevant and timely issues.

HortiFlora Expo is one of EHPEA’s interventions on stakeholder engagement and international representation aimed at bringing together producers, exporters, buyers, investors, technology providers, and policy makers among others, allowing them to look into the country’s industry potential as well as to create global networks for real business and investment opportunities.

Focused on advancing the industry through innovative technologies while fostering social and environmental stewardship interventions, the 10th edition of HortiFlora Expo will cover crucial topics, such as food safety and consumer trends, circular solutions, sustainable finance, AI and sustainability, market trends in fruits and vegetables, essence of horti-park, sea freight, and gender and sustainability.

This year’s Expo comes just on dawn of the launch of Ethiopia’s 10-Year National Horticulture Strategy (2025-2035) on which EHPEA championed through its advocacy-driven role to unlock the industry’s full potential and enhancing its socio-economic impacts, notably boosting export earnings.

While aiming at bolstering the horticulture industry’s contribution to GDP, the strategy embeds innovation and sustainability with strategic emphasis on key areas, including value chain approach, export diversification, and job creation among others.

In leveraging innovative technology, the strategy promotes digital agriculture for monitoring soil moisture, optimizing production, improving resource management and enhancing market access.

In the sustainability dimension, it promotes circular economy, biological pest control, and water-efficient techniques and practices among others. The strategy aims to boost the export earnings from hundreds of millions currently to billions of U.S. dollars by end of its implementation year.

With diverse agro-climatic conditions, abundant natural resources and proximity to major international markets in Europe, Middle East and Asia coupled with government financial and investment incentives and other supports as well as with Ethiopian Airlines’ extensive perishable cargo services and established cold-chain facilities at the country’s major international airports, Ethiopia is an ideal hub for horticulture investment.

Though it has been shorter period since the country embarked on it, Ethiopia has been registering significant gains in the horticulture industry.

The 10-year national strategy aims at transforming the second largest flower producing and exporting nation in Africa to a leading horticulture exporter by modernizing its industry through enhanced innovative farming practices, value addition and market access.

Upholding this spirit and building on the industry’s socio-economic gains in the country, the HortiFlora Expo 2026 is set to bring together global industry players around innovative solution and sustainability among others to ensure resilient horticulture industry.

About 150+ exhibitors are expected to participate in HortiFlora Expo 2026 which provides unique opportunity to anyone looking to connect with Africa’s horticulture future.
